OUR STORY

Built in New York and bred in New Delhi, Swiatlo is an international fashion brand with a love for global craft and cultural exchange. We believe in unabashed self-expression via uniquely designed and ethically produced small batch collections

Our mission is twofold: to adorn you in high-quality well-designed colorful forever pieces, and to contribute to sustaining indigenous craft techniques while supporting women makers in India. We are honored to have you with us on this journey!

Meet Our Founder

SWIATLO: “LIGHT, TO ILLUMINATE” IN POLISH. Swiatlo was founded in 2019 by Parsons alumni Elizabeth Hartman, an American with Polish heritage. While working in NYC for major brands such as Kenneth Cole and Ralph Lauren, she took a break from corporate life to visit India and learn about craft textiles. As an avid seamstress since childhood with a passion for pattern making, Elizabeth felt drawn to the devotion and dedication present amongst the artisans during the acts of handmaking. The intrinsic eco-awareness of Indian craft and the vibrancy of Indian culture inspired her to begin her own venture in an effort to support hand makers and elevate Indian craft textiles on a global scale. Every piece we produced has been designed with intention by Elizabeth herself, with an east-meets-west aesthetic combining the colorful intricacy of Indian craft with classic western silhouettes. Day-to-night forever pieces stitched by happy hands.

Delhi is home to a plethora of international fabric suppliers. Often they end up with extra or unordered fabric in their storage areas which we happily take off their hands. Our black corduroy fabrics from POLYCHRONIC are deadstock meters.
